Chinua Achebes brilliantly written novel, Things Fall isolated, care wide-eyedy tells the story of an organized Umuofian society who stumbles and falls apart more often than not because of its inner struggles dealing with certain key members of the tribe. Achebe approaches Things Fall Apart with a redeeming and caring eye, as the main innovation of the novel is to change the primitive and spiteful image that Africa had gleaned from unhomogeneous documents written in the past. Many Westerners, such as Joseph Conrad, agent of union of Darkness appeared to see Africans as unintelligent and primordial. Achebe do it his duty to prove them wrong, and shed a whole modernistic light on the intellectual capability of African tribes. two novels involve the colonization of Africa, but each has its own placement of the natives response to it.
Achebe is also accredited for presenting a chitchat titled, An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrads Heart of Darkness, which he gave at the University of Massachusetts in February 1975. This lecture attacks Conrads writing as racist and states that he dehumanizes Africans, denies them of prim language, and makes them out to be cannibals. Clearly infuriated by Conrads work, Achebe was prompted to write his own novel, Things Fall Apart to support the African people.
In the novel, the life of a man named Okonkwo and the tribe of Umuofia is envisioned in three different sections, with each section representing an age in the tribe. In the first piece, Achebe basically describes how the Africans got along out front the ashen man came into their lives. It allows one to grasp hold of and maintain the daily life of the Igbo. The next section involves the start of colonialism and the white men are brought into the story.
